Today, Morgan Hopkins announced that she is stepping down from her role as President of the organization and will serve in a strategic adviser role through 2024.
The Steering Committee has appointed Nourbese Flint, currently Vice President of Strategy, to become President, effective January 22.
The Steering Committee said, “We are deeply grateful for Morgan’s commitment and the contributions she has made to All* Above All over the past 10 years. During her tenure, as political director and later as President, Morgan was at the forefront of All* Above All’s bold, innovative strategies and campaigns. She played a pivotal role in:
- Introducing the EACH Act – the first piece of federal legislation to guarantee insurance coverage for abortion;
- Working with the Democratic National Committee to include an end to the Hyde Amendment in 2016 party platform;
- Partnering with state organizations to secure bold policies in Oregon and Illinois and to pass more than a dozen local initiatives to end coverage bans and ensure access to care;
- Working with the Biden administration for the first Presidential budget without Hyde and with members of Congress to pass the first U.S. House bill without Hyde in history;
- Introducing the Abortion Justice Act, federal legislation to ensure abortion is affordable, accessible, and available;
- Leading the creation of the All* Above All Action Fund.
We are thrilled to appoint Nourbese Flint as President at such a crucial time for abortion access. Her deep expertise in Reproductive Justice, proactive policy, and political strategy makes her perfectly poised to lead All* Above All and its political organizations into a bold future.”
“Being a part of All* Above All’s trailblazing work has been an honor,” said Morgan Hopkins. “Together with fearless local, state, and national advocates, unabashedly bold elected officials, and dedicated supporters, we have achieved groundbreaking abortion justice policy advancements that center the voices and leadership of people of color working to make ends meet. I am excited to support Nourbese, All* Above All, and our partners as they carry forward our critical work to ensure abortion care is available, affordable, and accessible for anyone who needs it.”
With deep roots in the Reproductive Justice movement and 15 years of experience in the field, Nourbese is poised to lead All* Above All and its political organizations with the clarity of vision, sharp political analysis, and deep movement relationships necessary to address the abortion care crisis we face.
She has successfully led policy efforts to increase abortion access, as well as groundbreaking legislation addressing disparities in maternal health, environmental justice, and sexual and reproductive health. Nourbese led the strategy for the first Black Reproductive Justice political organization, helping to get progressive Reproductive Justice candidates in office.
“I am proud and humbled to become President of All* Above All and continue the innovative work that the organization is known for. I am deeply grateful for Morgan’s contributions over the past decade,” said Nourbese Flint. “For the last 10 years, All* Above All has pushed the envelope—inspiring and supporting our partners and elected officials to fight for a bolder, inclusive vision for abortion care that leaves no one behind. As we face the ongoing abortion care crisis, our resolve to achieve abortion justice remains unwavering. I have dedicated my life to Reproductive Justice, and I look forward to continuing the legacy of the women of color who built All* Above All into the powerhouse organization and network that we are today.”
The All* Above All Steering Committee underscored the importance of All* Above All’s vision and mission. “As our country faces the challenges of a post-Dobbs landscape, where access to abortion care is being denied in state after state, BIPOC people are experiencing a tremendous toll. All* Above All remains steadfast in its commitment to achieving true abortion justice, ensuring that abortion care is affordable, available, and supported for everyone who needs it.”
Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice leaders released the following statements on the announcement:
“Nourbese has proven time after time that she is deeply committed to advancing Reproductive Justice, both in theory and in practice,” said Beulah Osueke, Interim Executive Director of New Voices for Reproductive Justice. “Her dedication to earnest relationship building, organizational and movement sustainability, and community-driven resource sharing demonstrate the innate talents and cultivated expertise that Nourbese brings to this role. I’m excited to witness and support all that’s possible through Nourbese’s vision and leadership.”
“We are thrilled that Nourbese Flint is being named All* Above All’s next President,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “Nourbese has deep reproductive justice roots from her early days at Black Women for Wellness. She has been a forceful advocate for sexual and reproductive health and freedom, and an even fiercer advocate for Black women’s health. We congratulate Nourbese on this new chapter and look forward to continuing our work together.”
