On May 21, hundreds of people gathered on the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) in Washington, D.C., to protest the recently passed abortion bans in Alabama, Georgia, and several other states, as part of the nationwide #StopTheBans rally.
The folks in D.C. joined thousands of people taking part in more than 500 events in all 50 states and Puerto Rico to protest the recent abortion bans as part of the #StopTheBans day of protest. Last week, Alabama’s governor signed a bill that would ban nearly every abortionin the state, making performing the procedure punishable by up to 99 years in prison. The state is just one of several other southern states under Republican control considering or passing unprecedented bans on abortion care.
